giant shuttle throw

Saturday morning at 11 a.m. I showed up at Erwin Park in McKinney. It's a park of woods and open fields. It has nice views.

I had with me a device called an X-Zylo. I saw it on youtube. It's a "flyer" that one throws. The contraption looks a bit like a giant shuttlecock made of plastic kite fabric, with a plastic hoop at one end. The fellows on youtube could make it go 50 yards a throw. My best looked to be about 16 yards. For a few minutes, though, it was fun hoisting it aloft and then walking to pick it up. The woods were too muddy for any good hiking or birding. Though the temperature was in the 40s, it was soon too chilly. I drove home. I took Beatrice for a walk around the pond. I loved seeing three robins fly into a tree.

I rested and did some work through lunchtime, and went for a late lunch at Barbecutie's at 4 p.m. After a pulled pork sandwich, I drove to Bethany Lakes Park. I saw lots of mallard ducks and ring-billed gulls. Though the temperature rose to the 50s the air was quite chilly. I drove home.

We intended to go out to eat, but I fell asleep in the early evening, and woke up at 11 p.m. My wife also got up and we made plans to update our house and ate toasted peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.
I did some more work, then stayed up until two p.m.

Today I feel the need for more rest, so I will work a bit and otherwise take it easy.
