holiday lunch

Our small law firm held its annual holiday lunch yesterday. One of my partners, a golfer, is a member of the Dallas Athletic Club, which always provides a nice lunch. This is the 11th Christmas season I've had with this firm--my longest affiliation with a firm in my 27 year career, though in some ways the prior 16 years were spent with the same set of people configured into different surrounding firms.

The weather started out at 50 degrees and rose to the low 60s. A gentle mist-like rain fell. Today the rain may be more persistent--and that's a very good thing.

I woke near 1 a.m. to find a 1954 movie with Debbie Reynolds and Dick Powell. I like the feel of 1950s comedies set in New York or Los Angeles.
