familiar places

I woke up this morning after a dream in which I visited a familiar place in southern California. I walked in a locale near the Angeles National Forest. I awoke when my courteous canines felt that it was their duty, in good conscience, to remind me of their regular five a.m. medication time. Then I wondered--was this wetlands area I saw in my dream an actual place in southern California I used to visit, or instead a recurring dream? I have vivid memories of walking there, but I cannot tie those memories to an actual place. I am comforted and disquieted by the idea that I have a familiar and wonderful but non-corporeal little mini-vacation in my dreams.
