dial alternative land and futures

Yesterday I flew to Austin for a work meeting. Today I was glad to be back in Garland. Tomorrow we are to get rain--I'm droughtfully delighted. Tonight I gave free legal advice at the Salvation Army--only 5 volunteer lawyers tonight, so I talked to a lot of people.

My brother wrote me that he sold his car in only 3 days. What fun! I'll go in a minute and listen to my short wave. Will it be Radio Australia? Radio Havana? China Radio? The radio station for the religious group that believes that the rapture is next week?

I'm reading one of Karin Fossum's Inspector Sejer mysteries, set in Norway. Reading about an upcoming high school reunion reminds me of past days. When I was 14, many parents let their kids drive illegally, 2 years ahead of licensure. My parents would never have done that, but many a classmate drove around town, careful to avoid the local 2 person police force.

I thought tonight that it would have been better if the comedian Bernie Mac had not died so young.
