Clowns

Of all the things at the circus, I liked the clowns best. I know that people cope with clown issues. I hope I am not a clown trigger. Yet clowns emerging from clown cars give me nostalgia and a persistent fondness for the cut of the jib of the Toyota Yaris.

I like the way that paint-by-numbers sets starred Emett Kelley. I like the way Red Skelton's best character was a clown. I like the sound of a clown's horn, and all the cool phrases--clown town, clowning around.

There are many finer things than clowns, but I like it when a clown makes a kid smile. Clowns are like a donkey's bray--a bit out of chord, somehow, but delightful.
