Monday concerns

Today the local scene is filled with concern about the swine flu outbreak in Mexico. One case in the Dallas suburb of Richardson already resulted in a week-long elementary school closure. I hope that the health authorities in all the involved countries can get help to those afflicted and minimize the ill effects of the outbreak.

I'm enjoying the e-mails I received today about how much fun my classmates had at the reunion event I skipped. I regret the choice somewhat, but not enough to have chosen differently. It's good to remember sometimes that I cannot do everything.

The rain today made for a charming lunchtime drive. I rolled over the older bridge over Lake Ray Hubbard into Rowlett. I made a mental note to visit the small historical museum. Then I drove back to work.
