time of uncertainty

Today the financial markets roiled after the sub-prime crisis proved fatal to one firm, and created an air of inevitability about the fate of additional firms. Meanwhile, the cable news networks showed stark images of houses swept away by the recent Hurricane Ike. We are in an historic moment, and the next weeks will be revelatory.
