Today I travelled to Kansas City for a business meeting. I was tempted to go early or stay late, so that I could dine with my in-laws and perhaps see a niece or two. Instead, I zipped right back out to the airport, this morning and caught a quick flight home.

I always enjoy Kansas City, because it has such a good look and feel about it. If I had my "druthers", I'd go hiking in Parkville tomorrow instead of going to work. But such faux druthers are beside the point.

Tonight I watched a very good Orozco documentary on PBS. I noticed that during our visit to Guadalajara some years ago, we saw one key mural, but may have missed altogether another one. We discovered that the mural my wife remembered from her days at a Claremont college was an Orozco.

I'm reading an A.S Byatt novel and Aaron Copland's little book on music appreciation. After the documentary, I watched one of my favorite light comedies, "The Trouble with Angels". This kind of sixties silliness always puts me in a good mood--it's definitely my favorite Rosalind Russell role. It all made for a nice juxtaposition of programming.

The first three days of this week burned like straw.
