wakeful night dreaming

The last vestiges of August recede, hot, slightly sultry, parched, and yet remote. This was a month of planetary demotion and eBay wooden slide whistle wins. I long for a field of stars in a clear Missouri sky, the sight of a kite wafting over green fields, and the first chill nip of late September.
