world cup detour

The thing I never get about soccer is that they'll play for eons on end, setting up elaborate plays with complex designs, only to see them easily disrupted by the defenders, and then the goal is scored from a zillion yards away on a weird, misplaced kick. It's a bit easier to understand the goals which happen when someone falls down. It's hard to resist any sport, though, when the Spanish-language version features the shouted GOL! while great text graphics appear splashed on the screen.
