seasons change

When I took Bea and Teddy to Trinity Trail for a long walk, we passed lots of small, somewhat gnarled feral fruit trees in full bloom--wild pears every several yards or so, each isolated from the others, each bearing tiny white flowers. When I looked overhead, I saw monarch butterflies, about twenty feet aloft, languidly flying. Monarchs don't worry about voracious insect-eating birds, because monarchs supposedly taste bad to birds.

Lake Lavon is still far from recovered from the drought. Yesterday's promised storm did not arrive. I ate pho and readied for the week to come.
