--"native Texan"--statue in Mount Vernon, Texas

"Every year is getting shorter
Never seem to find the time
Plans that either come to nought
Or half a page of scribbled lines"--line from a Pink Floyd song

A vigorous three days await this week, as a number of things come together all at once. The mild stock-taking and inner counting of the season arises for me now, in a quiet, reflective way. Perhaps I will make a few resolutions, but if so, they will read as little more than a "to do" list.

For now, though, a bowl of raisin bran and a prompt trip to the office suffice.
