the inevitable plottedness of things

"Fear of something is at the root of hate for others, and hate within will eventually destroy the hater".

I've been on a wikipedia.org tour, in which one enters a name chosen at random, and then finds how many names similar to that random name actually did exist in history, and their stories.

Somehow this all led me to a google search for "saintly scientists", which in turn led me to the story of Avlin Mary, the Indian woman whose work resulted in the creation of an organic compound with which to coat the bottom of boats, so that they do not transfer invasive organisms from port to port.

I had many detours along the way, from John Phillips Sousa to Lord Nelson's lover to Darwin's wife Emma to to John Major's son's rather curious model ex-wife to Luther Burbank's atheism, which all help me to remember what a great story exists in almost everything in the past.

That sense of unfolding story gives me comfort and a sense of wonder, which makes the morning a bit brighter.
