Reprise of the Best

Another ice-cold morning. Facebook memories reminds me that 11 years ago we had our 11-inch record snowfall. The weather prediction forecasts a few inches of snow Monday through Wednesday.

The drive to the office proved easy today. I saw no sign of ice. Yesterday a colleague mentioned to me that a huge automobile collision in Fort Worth involved 100+ cars and resulted in multiple deaths. I am sorry to hear of this loss of life and other tragic injuries.

Work remains busy. I felt pleased I could work at my office, as I work well but with fewer screens at home. I suppose I should hook up an extra monitor or two at home.  I plan to get more done this weekend.

Wednesday night we stayed up late watching the Sofia Coppola film "Somewhere." I liked the film very much. Last night we rented a movie I had seen before, Lukas Moodysson's  "We are the Best!" ("Vi är bäst!"). Though the movie contained the sense of fun and sadness that I remembered, my wife fell asleep before we finished. Perhaps I will buy the English version of the source graphic novel. I like the idea that Coco Moodysson did not thrive as a sign language translator, so she wrote graphic novels instead.  It has a see/hear/feel/smell symmetry that I like.

One of my wife's cousin's daughter was featured in her high school paper because her health condition required extra quarantine measures. I found the article interesting.   On another front, I was pleased to see that the first vaccine injection count jumped above 40 million.

This weekend I hope to walk, despite the bitter cold.
