|Friday we met our friends Stephanie and Olivia for dinner at the Indian restaurant Iravat in Plano. We met Stephanie and Olivia when they watched our dog(s) at various times. Each of them is some few years younger than the number of years I've been practicing law. They are quintessential good eggs. Recently, each of them embarked on a different and new path in the insurance industry. Each finds it an easier life than the long hours and low pay of the pet care business. My wife and I like them very much because they both are kind-hearted and down-to-earth people. |
We enjoyed our dinner out. I over-ate a bit, having a thali accompaniment with my tandoori shrimp, but it was fine. I fell asleep last night during the Absolutely Fabulous movie, after watching the Doctor who in the library with Alex Kingston.
I took Beatrice for a walk this morning. She liked it. At one point, her waddle seemed a little uncomfortable.for her, and she went into slow-motion. I worried her arthritis was acting up in this humid, overcast weather. But she soldiered on. At some point, she stopped and focused on something in her right forepaw. She seemed to have found the burr, for soon she was back to normal. She waddled with renewed vigor, as is her way.
My wife had a hair appointment at 10:30. At 10:10 I set out on a bicycle ride. I rode for 3 hours 15 minutes and covered 20.99 miles. I rode from west Allen to Allen Station Park and back. I had a really good time. I saw a few less usual birds--a Swainson's Hawk and a Lark Sparrow. I saw lots of species of other more usual birds. I shot a little video of the birds I saw. I went for a very late lunch of a fried chicken breast, green beans, corn on the cob and a roll.
My wife arrived home in the late afternoon. We headed to Panera Bread for dinner.
I ate a chicken panini and black bean soup with a bowl of fresh fruit. My wife had a gift card, which paid for our meal and for her Lemon Drop cookie.
I edited the bird videos I took. This proved a bit of a project. It turned out my camera exported in a format called AVCHD. My computer did not seem to recognize the files. I posted a question at the Q4Os operating system website to ask how to solve it. But then I found some things on the internet that helped. After I watched a Youtube video about how to solve this problem on a Mac computer.
I was able to translate the ideas to Linux, and soon solved the issue. I posted the solution on the Q4OS forum. I also re-set my little zoom camera to export video in .mp4, which is more Linux-friendly.
Tonight the news reports the sadness of a white supremacist terrorist allegedly stabbing to death two Oregonians who stood up for a Muslim woman the terrorist was harassing. This kind of terrorism, just like the other terrorist ideology terrorist acts, needs to be stopped.
