lark, osprey and a WWII-era home front filmic film
I got an early start this morning. I drove 40 minutes to Farmersvile, population 3,300 folks. I walked in Southlake Park first, where I saw my first Lark Sparrow of the year and took some nice photos of the last Savannah Sparrows of the Spring. It was like a changing of the guard, since the Lark Sparrow is our only truly Summer sparrow.
Then I headed into town to walk the local rail trail, the Chapparal Trail. I walked about 5 miles on this trail. The highlight was when an Osprey flew overhead. Ospreys migrate through here, but few Winter here and none Summer here. So I was glad to see this one.
I got lunch at a Cici's and then went to my office to review some documents. Then I headed home. I realized then that today and not tomorrow was the deadline to turn in a Secret Mixter remix for ccMixter.org. I began to work on mine at 3 p.m. When we left at 5 p.m. to meet friends, I was not happy with my progress. I got into a bad mood. But a great dinner at a Union BBQ and the excellent film "Their Finest", as well as the company of my wife and our friends, snapped me out of it.
At home after the movie, I created a new song and posted it before midnight. I was happy with it, though it is a simple minimalistic piece.
The cool weather today had me pulling my fleeces out--I wore two.
Breakfast: hot instant oatmeal
Lunch: 2 slices pepperoni pizza, one slice spinach alfredo, with pickles and broccoli on the side
Dinner: a turkey BBQ sandwich, shoestring fries, and jalapeno pinto beans, with a small cup of frozen yogurt with chocolate sprinkles for dessert.
I picked up new birdseed at Home Depot. I was able to get another resealable bag. I am impressed, by the way, with the way the dried mealworms are so popular as well. If it were me, I'd take a sunflower seed over a mealworm, but I clearly lack a good understanding of the bird palate.
