10 species

Today I walked from our house to the Watters Creek Trail. Then I walked this creek-adjacent sidewalk to Dayspring Nature Preserve. I came out on Comanche, walked to Exchange Drive and walked home via Glendover Park. I kept a bird list. I did not see any migrants, but mostly saw year-round neighborhood birds. I made this entry into eBird.com:

Mourning Dove 2
Red-bellied Woodpecker 1
American Kestrel 1
Eastern Phoebe 1
Blue Jay 7
Tufted Titmouse 1
Northern Mockingbird 9
European Starling 8
Northern Cardinal 3
Common Grackle 4

I did not count the domestic park geese, nor the chickadees I heard but did not see nor the hawk that I could not identify before it gracefully flew off.

I was down 3 pounds at Weight Watchers, but that is just a result of exercise yesterday and today rather than any personal virtue. After the meeting, I bought a magazine, read it while eating chicken at Boston Market, and then walked on the Bluebonnet Trail, where I took a nice picture of a northern mockingbird on a little bridge. I listened to the fine Creative Commons Cerebral Rift podcast as I walked.
