perched on a red twist

Today at lunch I grabbed something to eat at the Tom Thumb grocery and went to Breckinridge Park. I saw what I took to be a hawk on a branch. Tonight my imperfect pictures make it appear to instead have been a large kestrel. I love kestrels, but this one was almost large enough, but colored wrong, to be a Merlin.Tonight we dined at Highland Park Cafeteria with our friends Scott and Donna. Then we all went to the Dallas Arboretum to see the wonderful glassworks of a Dale Chihuly exhibition. My wife and I had seen an exhibition of his works in Santa Barbara a goodish while ago, but this outdoor setting was much nicer. We all had a great time, watching darkness fall as the art first reflected the sun and then the artificial light.
