Graceful Mockingbird

Today during church a bagpipe began to play "Amazing Grace" while a choir sang the words of the hymn to a completely alternative melody. I found the juxtaposition liberating, but a service dog on the back row found the combination dismaying and emitted a mild vocal response. When the service ended, a mockingbird stood just outside the church, hopping with confidence. Later, in a Godiva chocolate shop, we saw (but did not sample) strawberries dipped in chocolate, and I sampled (but did not see) a radio broadcast of a divertimento by Mozart. I felt hope for the world as a whole when my niece chose as her airplane reading a magazine called "Shih Tzu Puppies".
