Low-Flying Hawk
Friday evening we ordered Chinese and watched one of the Charlie's Angels movies. We ordered Chinese from Tian An Mien Wok. I got the broccoli shrimp, along with tofu Summer rolls. Saturday morning the weather turned cold, after a spate of warm days.
I went to WW, where I seem lately to gain and lose the same two pounds from week to week. The difference is largely how many bananas I eat in a given week.
After WW, I drove to Best Buy to see about some accessories. I looked on its website to figure out what to get, and carefully weighed whether to instead drive to MicroCenter, which offers cheaper storage and a better selection of hardware. When I noticed at 10 that the Best Buy did not open until 11, I drove instead to the Allen Wal-Mart. I picked up the SD card, external hard drive and USB headset I wanted. The pricing was good.
I walked in Bethany Lakes Park. As I walked I wore several layers of warm clothes. I saw a young man in a warm-up and shorts, but I do not try to be brave in cold weather. The SD card failed to initialize, so I switched back to the one I had been using. When the afternoon weather warmed, I walked Sparrow in Glendover Park.
Saturday afternoon I used the program grsync to back-up important document, picture and music files onto the new Seagate 1 TB external hard drive that was among my purchases. I had heard of rsync for years, but did not understand that with its graphical interface (grsync) it would be a useful way to easily backup things I had been instead saving through manual save-and-move-and-email methods. I like grsync for the same reasons I like Eye of Mate or Gthumb: they are all good software packages that are easy to learn and use.
Saturday night we watched the Olympics. I picked us up pho from Forever Pho, ordering it with broccoli and carrots mixed in.
Today I got up and drove to Story Park. The morning weather remained cold but the wind was not so bad. I walked around the park three times, watching for birds. I listened to the sermon broadcast live from Gurdon First United Methodist Church, the church I attended from age 5 to age 15. I also listened to podcasts about Linux and about happiness.
I walked in Allen Station Park, in Green Park in Allen and in Russell Creek Park in Plano. When I walked in Allen Station Park, I saw a Cooper's Hawk fly by around shoulder height. We watched All Creatures Great and Small and enjoyed it. We ate a wonderful vegan lentel soup. I encouraged Sparrow to be less chewy around the furniture.
