adventures in dental work and wooded trails

The weather turned more pleasant all week. On Wednesday and Thursday it was warmer and breezy. Thursday afternoon I left work early. to head to my dentist. I had one last wisdom tooth in need of removal. Fortunately it was not impacted, but it was chipped.

Thursday at lunch I walked in Breckinridge Park. I saw a Red-Shouldered Hawk perched in a tree.

I arrived in time for my 4 p.m. appointment. By 4:30 p.m. it was done. I felt nothing when it was done. I went home with gauze and a prescription. I walked a bit on the way home on the Chisholm Trail. I took it easy that night. I had a vegetable shake called Orgain in lieu of a proper dinner.
I managed to get by on only one pill of hyped-up Tylenol. I wish I had foregone even that. I distrust painkillers.

I felt ready for work on Friday morning. I had a bottle of Ensure drink for lunch. I worked a full day. At lunch I walked in Breckinridge Park. In the early evening, I walked on the Chisholm Trail in Plano off Custer Road. In the evening, we went to a Denny's, as my dentist's orders for the second 24 hours called for "soft food". I had egg whites, a ham slice, wheat pancakes and turkey bacon strips. After a couple of meals of chocolate-y beverages, I did not need the syrup to make the pancakes taste good. I watched Razorback basketball on Friday evening. I also created a song from another's artists works for the quarterly ccMixter.org secret mixter event.

This morning I meant to go to Hagerman National Wildlife Reserve to do a bird walk and hear a talk about bluebirds. But I slept until 8 a.m., too late to drive the hour to the 8 a.m. walk. I had a Nutri-Grain berry bar for breakfast. I decided to go for a walk at the Trail at the Woods in Allen, a ten minute drive from our home.

I had a really good time. I was pleased that it was not all muddy. I saw lots of birds, including my first Golden-Crowned Warbler of the year.

I went to Panera for lunch. I had a bowl of black bean soup and a fruit cup. Then I came home and spent roughly an hour on a call for work.

I took Beatrice for an afternoon walk. It was now very warm. She enjoyed her walk. I saw a dozen different bird species on this walk.

I walked a bit more in Green Park. I saw 7 species here.

We went out for dinner at Firewater Grill. We enjoyed sitting outside. An American Kestrel's call sounded in the background. I ate a steak, potatoes and vegetables. It was good to eat solid food again.
