snow and a passing

The weather calls for a light snow tonight. We get but a few inches of snow most years. Last year I do not recall getting much of any snow.
Snow here is a media event. Even a half an inch of predicted snow makes the news.  I think of my childhood in rural south Arkansas. On snow days, we listened to the radio station and watched the television stations until the news about our school closure or non-closure finally came on.

At lunch, the weather was balmy. By 5 p.m. it got quite cool. By tomorrow it will be cold. Our relatives in Kansas City sent us pictures of people walking on lake ice. Our Texas weather will never be that vigorous.

Today I learned that the singer Dolores O'Riordan passed away.  I was very sorry to hear of her passing. I liked her music, whether it was "Linger" or "Sunday" or her solo material. I liked her Limerick accent and the way she could make a pop song come to life.

I worked today, though it was an office holiday. I buried myself in an interesting issue, and made progress on solving it.
