week of starfire

The weather today was delightful after noon.

Here is what I did today:

a. attended Weight Watchers;
b. attended church, where a seminarian giving the sermon talked about finding joy in the midst of difficulty. Her story of losing her 19-year-old son two years ago struck me.
c. walked in Limestone Quarry Park. There I saw my first Yellow-Rumped Warbler of the Autumn. I love this little Winter resident, with its mild yellow coloration except for its bright yellow rump.
d. picked up Vietnamese for dinner, as my wife is a bit under the weather
e. took Beatrice for a walk as dusk turned to dark, to her delight. She investigated everything.
f. finished Spencer Ellsworth's Sci-Fi novel "Starfire: A Red Peace". At first I worried it was going to be too violent for me, but it proved to be
just right--a quirky first volume of a space opera trilogy with a lot of heart.
g. listened on the radio to the local professional sports team's winning effort

Breakfast: cereal and skim milk
Lunch: fried catfish, hush puppies and green beans
Dinner: pho ga' and
