kite robbers

Overhead, the Mississippi Kite tilted in mid-air. Its white head shimmering just a bit in the evening air over Crowley Park. Cottontail rabbits
stood by the walls of shrubbery. I listened to a podcast about the Gnome Desktop. Whenever I listen to the host of that podcast, I think about how he lives in Grand Forks, North Dakota. I want to visit Turtle River State Park someday.  I read once about this park, but I have never been there.
I saw a picture of one shady interlude among the 7.5 miles of trails there.

I thought about a trip my family took when I was 12. I say my family, but actually my father was too busy with work. My mother, my brother, my sister and I drove to Robber's Cave State Park in Oklahoma. I remember going kayaking for the first time there. It's a fuzzy memory, but in my memory I kayaked on a perfectly still small lake. I recall hiking among the ledges and mini-cliffs which served as a kind of refuge for wrongdoers in a past time.  My aunt and cousins were there--I cannot remember if my uncle came, too.

Tonight we watched Chicago PD. I read more pages of Faith Colburn's "Prairie Landscapes".

The news is full of the FBI and of unresolved questions.

breakfast: fruitful o's and skim milk
lunch: turkey sandwich and baked chips
dinner: chicken breast, vermicelli and green beans

I am settling in for angelfood cake and strawberries.
