At lunch, I walked in Bradfield Park, where the Downy Woodpeckers braved the cold.
I was going to go to Cici's Pizza for lunch, but the Garland Independent School District buses parked outside that establishment convinced me that today was a Golden Chick grilled chicken day. My chicken with green beans and roll went down just as well as the morning Quaker oatmeal.
I headed home a few minutes before five p.m., after we let our staff go at 4:15. My drive home was uneventful, though the radio was full of stories of freeway accidents. I never understand why people drive imprudently on slightly icy roads.
We drove to Silver Thai for dinner. I had the "garlic grill", which featured shrimp and vegetables, as well as tofu monsoon rolls. Tonight we watched "The Secret Life of Pets", which we really enjoyed.
I finished the Grossmiths' novel "The Diary of a Nobody",which I quite enjoyed. Now I am reading Willa Cather's novel "One of Ours".
Tomorrow is to be another very cold day. I plan to wear layers upon layers. Next week warm weather returns again.
