I stopped at Collin Creek Mall after work to walk, as it was too chilly outdoors to get proper exercise with my medium-warm jacket on. Then I played with Beatrice at length, with her repeatedly fetching her chipmunk and red lobster toys.
My ereader/tablet (it was sold as an ereader but then the firmware was upgraded to an Android tablet) is 4 1/2 years old now. It runs Android 2.1 or 2.2, I cannot remember which one. It did not come with Google Play but one of the alternative repositories for Android apps. Early in its life, I side-loaded the Amazon appstore, which worked very well. Now, though, none of its repositories work for it--their apps all require more advanced versions of Android. I figured out last night, though, that the open source repository, the F-Droid app store. The app for the store won't load or side-load, but I discovered, to my delight, that individual .apk's will load. It's nice to add some silly casual games to this tablet, which formerly only had chess and bowling.I love that this tablet is still a great ereader and web browser and music listening device, though it is "outmoded technology" with a modest ARM CPU.
I'm in the swing of things at work, and ate some lovely almonds tonight.
