cold bicycle touring

I wondered last night if I would want to go on the 8 a.m. bird walk at the Connemara Meadow Preserve. When I woke at 8 a.m., then I knew the answer was "no". I also thought about driving to Weatherford, 75 minutes away, to ride the Mineral Wells Trailway on my bicycle. But I decided to stay closer to home.

I did take Beatrice for a walk. Then I went on a bicycle ride to DaySpring Nature Preserve. I feel really fortunate that we have walking paths and bicycle paths near our home. At the Nature Preserve, I watched White-Throated and Chipping sparrows, Dark-Eyed Juncos, American Goldfish, American Robins, and a Ruby-Crowned Kinglet.

The weather was not warm so the bicycling proved a bit chilly. But I had a good time.

As I pedaled into our alley, my wife drove up in her car. She was heading to lunch. So I joined her at Mexi-Go. I had good Mexico-city-style shrimp tacos. But my wife had a great tortilla soup which I will order next time I go to that restaurant.

I watched my alma mater's sports team win its televised bowl game. Now we are settled in for a nice evening at home.
