return to work

Today heavy snow fell in the morning but did not stick at all. I drove to my office on the side streets. The parks near my work are closed due to high water. Our office building and its surrounding area were not affected. A fifteen minute drive down the freeway, eight people died when their cars were plucked from the freeway by a tornado.

I worked a solid day at the office like working the last week of the year, when things are quiet. I heard from folks I know here and there in the wake of the storm, kindly checking in and in one impressive case, offering assistance had I needed it.

I stopped by IHOP for the simple and fit breakfast-for-dinner. Then I bought bananas and Powerade Zero and headed home to see my dog Beatrice. My wife is coming home tomorrow from snowy Kansas City.
