shrike out

I walked Beatrice in warm weather first thing this morning. We saw a Northern Cardinal and a Red-Bellied Woodpecker. I worked a solid day. During lunch, I walked in Heritage Park in Sachse. I saw the little Loggerhead Shrike, but did not get close enough for a good picture. I did see some of his handiwork in a tree. He had impaled a living grasshopper onto a little twig on the tree. That's Shrike behavior. I thought about freeing the grasshopper, but I know that a Shrike's gotta eat.

I knocked off work at 4:45 p.m. I shopped for a bit in Barnes and Noble, where my purchase went smoothly. I dropped presents at my brother and sister-in-law's house. I enjoyed talking to them and to their dogs Arnold (a Chihuahua mix) and Tula (a Chinese Crested).

Tonight we ate at Black Walnut Cafe where I had Chicken Tortilla Soup. We have fun plans for Christmas.
