12 and 1

Yesterday I noticed we were out of milk. Instead of Raisin Bran, I ate Quaker microwave oatmeal. That worked out well, other than the part where it bubbled over the bowl.

I spent my morning on a fascinating issue. In the evening I finished Anne Leckie's Ancillary Mercy, the third in a satisfying trilogy.

My reading has shifted from mostly novels to mostly magazine non-fiction articles. In January, I decided to read a series of science fiction novels. I usually choose my titles based on listings or reviews on sci-fi websites.

So far my 2015 count is 12 novels and 1 novella. This serms a low count to me as compared to years I read mostly novels with a smattering of books of poetry and books about chess. I will read another novel or so by year end. The quickest read this year was the third Ancillary book. The slowest was Tom Toner's first Amaranthine series book. Yet I enjoyed both novels quite well. Time-a-book-takes-to-read is not the acid test.

The weather is unseasonably warm, but the weatherman hints a White Christmas.

Last night I watched an episode of the television show Supergirl and bought skim milk.
