Budget rented me the Toyota Yaris, a sub-compact considered so bland that it inspired Toyota to start the Scion line of cars. I like driving sub-compact cars. Google Voice assured me that the 35 mile drive would take 90 minutes--and sure enough, it did. There is something to be said for an Orange County bumper-to-bumper rush hour, but only Google Maps can say it.
The on-line directions helped me find a side street to follow. A billboard and a sign-toting many advertised an outlet at which to purchase marijuana. A back street passed by a bar with a name in Spanish.
I ate egg whites, chicken sausage and whole wheat pancakes at Denny's. I fell asleep early. I woke this morning and finished the science fiction novel I am reading. Its deliberate pace paid off with a really gripping ending.
My morning meeting this morning went really quickly. I was able to catch a 12:45 p.m. flight. On the way to the airport, I walked in the Fullerton Arboretum. I took pictures of a Black Phoebe and an American Coot.
As my plane was about to take off, the first news of a horrible shooting in San Bernardino came out. By the time I landed, hours later, more details came out. Not all details of this tragedy are out yet. It sounds like another horrible act of terrorism.
We got a new sofa and chair at home. We ate turkey chili and corn muffins. I bought two more science fiction ebooks at Barnes and Noble's website.
