what the jays knew

A languid, restful afternoon, lying under a bedroom ceiling fan while temperatures reached scorching levels. I read the latest science fiction previously downloaded onto my tablet. We dined tonight on fat-free franks, whole what buns, sauerkraut and raw vegetables.

I started my day at 6:45 taking Beatrice for a walk. On my way to Weight Watchers I stopped to hike a walking path called the Chisholm Trail in Plano. When I passed some trees five Blue Jays went crazy. Then I saw why:

I scooted away a bit less than one tree over and took pictures at leisure of this noble hawk, who perched, a bit serene, even when Blue Jays tried to harass it. Eventually it flew slowly away.

I gained .8 pounds when I went to Weight Watchers. Then, after a shower, I went to Suncreek UMC. We sang "A Mighty Fortress is Our God" and the Welsh translated hymn "Guide Me O Thou Great Jehovah", with its appealing verse "Bread of Heaven, Bread of Heaven, feed me 'til I want no more". After lunch and a short walk in Allen Station Park,I beat the heat wtih a good ebook.
