The rain fell, and I was glad. It fell in the darkness, when Beatrice went out and barked at the thunder. It fell in the morning, when I drove to work.
At lunch I drove to the park and took pictures of birds in the rain.
I saw my first Eastern Kingbird of the season:

I love Eastern Kingbirds in part because they are so different from Western Kingbirds. When Eastern Kingbirds arrive, then I know Spring is advancing.
This Scissor-tailed Flycatcher stood serenely:

This Barn Swallow paused for a moment to rest:

Yesterday I saw another harbinger of Spring, the prairie flower called Blue-Eyed Grass:

But this Blue Jay is a bird for all seasons:

I had a pretty good day at work. I learned something new at the end of the day.
After work, I went to Classic Cuts in Plano for a haircut. My hair looks the best when it is short. The kind woman used the Number 4 shears and a lot of personal attentiveness to do a really good job. I was grateful. My wife had made us round steaks. I like round steak--it's got a tough, lean body that I enjoy.
I thought today about the disadvantages of social media. A friend's cryptic post on another forum had led me to underestimate the news in that person's life. In the old days when that friend was on LiveJournal, I might not have had to guess (or, as was the case, not really understand until later). These things puzzle me.
