wrong guess

Little, if any, rain fell today.The clouds held their promise of rain, but held back. After work, I walked in the park. I saw a bird whose identity I could not quite place. I logged it as a female Common Merganser. I posted its picture on "What bird?" on Facebook. I learned it was a female Hooded Merganser, much less rare in my area.
I was glad to get it right. Tonight we dined on Thai-spiced eggplant, some chicken, and jasmine rice.
