cold weather arrives

A deep chill set in last night. I moved our ficus tree indoors before it hit. That ficus experienced substantial growth this Summer. It took me a bit of effort to bring it in. Next Spring I will use some kind of cart or rolling platform to take it out again.

Today the high temperature was 46 F. (~ 8 C.). Tonight the prediction is for sub-freezing temperatures. I bundled up in a thick jacket and gloves. At lunch I went to Breckinridge Park. I was the only person to brave the cold other than, perhaps, park maintenance personnel. I saw bluebirds, house finches, a red-bellied woodpecker and chipping sparrows.

I stopped by Market Street on the way home to pick up some chicken. I also got some curious crackers made with quinoa. They taste pretty good. I need to look up and see if they are really made of quinoa or just flavored with a bit.
