Arkansas sojourn

I left at 5 a.m. to drive up to Arkansas. I breakfasted on oatmeal at a McDonalds in Mount Vernon. I listened to legal education seminars via USB through my car stereo. I stopped at Gurdon Lake in my old home town, where I watched yellow-rumped warblers and a great blue heron in the fog. I saw four whitetail deer as I drove between Gurdon and Camden. The weather proved quite chilly, which I liked.I stopped at White Oak Lake, where I walked in the woods and watched a lot of vultures. I stopped by the Ouachita River, where I saw an eastern phoebe, more vultures, killdeer, and a red-tailed hawk.

I did all sorts of useful family business today. This took up my time from noon to almost 4:30 p.m., though part of that time was spent walking on a business matter in a lovely patch of the outdoors. I hoped to see my father's widow, but she proved to be out of town at a nephew's wedding. I drove back to Texas. On the way, I stopped at the Rosston Walking Path in Rosston, Arkansas. I got a couple of workable snaps of a
yellow-rumped warbler on that small path. A small coyote crossed the highway as I approached by car.

Tonight I ate Mexican food and settled in a few hours from my home to rest. I watched my alma mater's sports team lose yet another heart-breaking close game. I began my nanowrimo novel, logging in my first 1,269 words. I am happy with all that I got done.
