sleeping after enchantment

This morning I woke up early. Then my wife and I re-watched the movie "Enchanted", which we have seen more than once before. After the movie, I fell asleep, waking again only at 8:25 a.m. I made it to work in good order.

The local news, not surprisingly, focuses on the local Ebola cases. I hope that the CDC and the local medical community learn from the experience of these first cases and the way they illustrate the need to improve the response in the future. This all brings to my mind my belief that our public health service should be better-funded all around. I wish, too, that the 10,000 annual deaths from influenza in this country got people's attention as much as these unfortunate three Texas Ebola cases.

Tonight I went to give free legal advice at the monthly Garland intake clinic. They moved the start time up to 6:30 p.m., which was a good thing. I met with some clear-thinking folks for whom I did intake as they try to get a volunteer to help them steer through the legal labyrinth. I was pleased to be invited to the local legal aid awards function week after next.

I spoke tonight with my old friend Gene, who is a good fellow. I also have corresponded with a great guy in the UK about reviving a different creative project.
So things are going well.
