Today I got a lot done. I felt good about the things I accomplished. I also saw commonplace but wonderful things. Here is a monarch butterfly, an early migrant heading, I theorize, to Mexico:
This is our dog Beatrice, looking up expectantly at my wife:
Here are two young scissor-tailed flycatchers I saw at Oak Point Park in Plano:
Here is a young northern mockingbird who was one of several alternating on our back fence tonight:
I tried to grab dinner at Dragon Deli, my favorite local Chinese informal place, but the woman at the counter proved too pre-occupied with endless call-in orders to take my order. I lost patience after a solid handful of calls' worth of neglect, and went to Tian An Mien Wok, where they always wait on me instantly, and the food is good. I am glad Dragon Deli's business has taken off, but I will know next time to go during a more dormant hour.
My wife chose another carpet pattern, which should be here in a week. Our home renovation and repairs are moving steadily on. Our new floors, wood-like but, because we are on slab construction, comprised of a composite wood-topped substance rather than actual boards, look great, as do tiles in a curious wood coloration. I will be glad to see this renovation off in style, though living in a more warehouse-ish way has been interesting.
Last but furthest from least, tonight word came out that the comic actor Robin Williams died. I am sorry to hear of this loss.
