nuthatches

I woke up early this morning. I got some paperwork done. The stamps at hand celebrate the singer Lydia Mendoza. A podcast played as I went to work.

I walked at lunch in Breckinridge Park. I stood on a sidewalk in a stand of bare hardwoods. I watched Carolina chickadees, white-breasted nuthatches, tufted titmice, a downy woodpecker, a noisy feeding flock of bluebirds, house finches, a ruby-crowned kinglet, a goldfinch, and cedar waxwings, all within the space of ten yards of woods.

My wife had a meeting tonight, so I went to the International House of Pancakes for dinner. I had one of their "Simple Fit" entrees--pancakes, egg substitutes, and turkey bacon, all under 600 calories. I watched the TV show "The Blacklist", turning my head away like an elementary schooler during the violent parts.

Today was warm with only a hint of chill in the breeze. I thought about how each person can be a kind of miniature afterlife for people who have gone before. The flu here is particularly virulent this season.
The Consumer Electronic Show this year generated a wide swath of products of no interest to me.
