cold but good

We had another cold day today. This is one of the coldest Decembers I can remember in Texas. Yet I enjoyed the weather, because it featured lots of blue sky and bright sun. I went to the park at noon and took pictures of red-bellied woodpeckers, American goldfinches, and Carolina chickadees.

I worked a full day today, getting things done and enjoying the way that the phone was pre-holiday in its silence.

Tonight I installed the gnome-boxes virtual machine on my little cheap laptop, only to learn that its BIOS is not set for virtualization. I will see if that is fixable next weekend, though this may be the time that running a single core Intel U1400,
a veritable Geo Metro in a world of SUVs, will do me in. I was excited about gnome-boxes, because it was one-stop, the way running vmware-player in windows was for me.

I am sending more holiday cards out tomorrow. Christmas has 12 days, I submit, and New Year's is placed a week behind Christmas because Saturn had to have time to catch up on his mail.
