I had a quiet, work-consumed birthday yesterday. I was touched by how many people reached out, here and in other social media. Today I will again do an honest day's work, which I am thankful to have to do. I do not feel older, but does anyone?

I was listening to music on my computer yesterday, and I realized that every song to which I listened was either a netlabel release or a pay-what-you-will indie release. The music world has changed so much. It's been fun to be part of the fringes of change.

I keep wondering when facebook will be replaced by a more user-controlled,
more on-one's-own-computer, alternative social interface. The technology is there and has been for years. All it needs is imagination and enthusiasm.
