another sunset

We walked together on the Trinity Trail, where tall green grass and tall brown dead grass show the seasons are changing. We saw purple thistle flower, late summer black eyed susan and coreopsis, yellow gorgeous against a sea of green. A hawk hovered low overhead just above us, while the crows looked the size of small children. We watched a heron wading in the lake, while a brisk breeze blew. As we walked back to our car, the sun set, a huge yellow orb hanging in low sky--we felt so open and free. Thank goodness no Eagles song touched on this scenery, or we'd be stuck with Don Henley rasping in our heads, spoiling our view.
