night song

Tonight we heard a great horned owl. We stepped into our postage-stamp back yard to look and listen. We heard it a few houses over, and tried to see it. At one point an owl flew directly overhead, and disappeared over our roof. Then all we heard was its trademark call.

Last night I had insomnia, induced, near as I can tell, because I learned a friend was quite ill. I stayed up until 3, but managed to awake at 8, take Beatrice for her walk, and still get to work by 9.15. I ate grilled fish for lunch, and read a Linux magazine. I am quite taken with freeware sharing culture.
