an inland beach hotel

The storm arrived just as my plane to Los Angeles was about to take off. We sat on the ground for 2.5 hours, rain, lightning and thunder all around, until things cleared. Then we took off and had a pleasant 2.75 hour flight. The net effect of the delay was to deny me a chance to walk on a local ocean pier. In the Los Angeles area, I stopped at the Manhattan Beach Mall to try to eat at a little mall food tandoori place. It was gone, as was the entire food court, as near as I could tell. I went down the road to a place called Samurai Sam's, where I had a healthy chicken teriyaki bowl that was good. People watched the Oklahoma City basketball team defeat the San Antonio team on the cafe television. I went to a hotel called the Ayres Hotel Manhattan Beach, though it is in adjacent Hawthorne.

Today I have a business matter downtown, and then a flight home.
